Essex County Councillor Michael Hardware has welcomed Harlow & Gilston Garden Town’s transport strategy and the Getting Around in the Garden Town public consultation which runs through to 13 March 2020.

As reported by Your Harlow, Cllr Michael Hardware said: “The transport strategy launched for consultation is a positive step in the right direction and offers a real opportunity to change Harlow for the better.

“It sets out the shift that needs to be seen if we are going to make a real difference in the town in terms of travel and congestion.

“Improving public transport and encouraging more people to walk and cycle, so shifting away from over-reliance on the private car, is key to this. Not only will this reduce our cumulative carbon footprint, it will ease the existing traffic congestion around our town.

“But to achieve this, we need to see credible alternatives, we need to see innovation and we need to see investment.

“So, we are calling upon Harlow Council to work with us at Essex County Council to come up with bold, different and groundbreaking schemes which will provide the alternatives to achieve these laudable aims.”
